Job summary

Recovery Centers of America is seeking a highly organized Recovery Support Specialist to assist patients in daily activities, supervision, and engagement in therapeutic activities within a trauma-informed setting. The role collaborates with clinical staff to ensure safety and recovery-focused care.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, documentation, and facilitating patient education, with emphasis on compassionate communication and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• 1 year of experience in behavioral health and/or substance use treatment preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficient with technology and willing to learn new systems.
• Familiarity with 12-step modality and trauma-informed approaches.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient activities and perform safety checks across shifts.
• Support direct patient care and use trauma-informed approaches.
• Assist with daily patient schedule and activities.
• Identify signs of distress and respond appropriately.
• Assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and emergency procedures.
• Communicate concerns to clinical and nursing staff promptly.
• Process patient belongings and admissions-related tasks.
• Assist with discharge preparation and patient flow.
• Monitor facilities and wellness areas for policy compliance.
• Provide welcoming orientation to new patients when needed.
• Support visitation programs and transport patients as applicable.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional communication with all contacts.
