Job summary

Cook Children’s Medical Center is seeking an Information Release Tech I responsible for processing requests to release protected health information in compliance with state and federal laws. You will maintain confidentiality, follow departmental procedures, and deliver courteous service while upholding privacy standards.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1 year of release-of-information experience, and a valid Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

High School diploma required.
Minimum 1 year release-of-information experience in a hospital HIM or large outpatient clinic.
Valid Texas driver's license in good standing.
Efficient with EMR and EDMS systems.
Epic experience preferred.
Dependable with excellent attendance.
Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and problem-solving skills; team oriented.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Goal-oriented and energetic.
Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail.
Knowledge of health record concepts, privacy, release regulations and subpoenas.

Responsibilities

Process requests for release of protected health information in accordance with state and federal laws.
Maintain confidentiality and follow all policies and procedures for disclosures.
Provide prompt and courteous service to customers and maintain accurate records.
