Summary

To greet and provide information to patients and visitors. To direct visitors, sign off on deliveries, and locate CHA resources. To create a welcoming environment for all people who enter, be they patients, visitors, or employees. To provide a variety of clerical and secretarial duties for the Department.

Responsibilities
  • Greets and provides information to patients and visitors.
  • Initiates contact with each person entering the lobby/reception area, offering greetings or assistance.
  • Directs patients and visitors to proper locations, providing clear directions and calling interpreters as needed.
  • Responds to telephone inquiries regarding hospital services, directions, and IT/telecomm services in a professional manner.
  • Uses all telephone features appropriately, ensuring someone is always answering the phone.
  • Accesses patient information via the computer and interfaces with IT to resolve hardware/software issues.
  • Interacts with patients and visitors in a friendly and reassuring manner.
  • Signs in and out of terminal screens per security policy, avoiding unauthorized access.
  • Handles difficult situations calmly, seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Keeps up-to-date with hospital events, locations, and programs to provide accurate information.
  • Maintains safety and security awareness in the reception area.
  • Performs administrative/support duties such as greeting visitors, managing mail, maintaining files, and scheduling meetings.
  • Participates in training new employees and volunteers.
General
  • Adheres to dress code and wears hospital ID badge visibly.
  • Attends department meetings and in-service training.
  • Knows safety, infection control, and emergency procedures.
  • Participates in performance appraisals and goal setting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED; knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • 2-3 years of medical office experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
