Job summary

The Salvation Army in Jackson, Mississippi, is seeking a full-time Administrative Clerk to handle front-desk duties, answer phones, greet visitors, and provide information about services.

You will record messages, manage donations, schedule pickups, assist truck drivers with routes, and perform data entry and filing. A high school diploma or GED and two years of related switchboard/dispatch experience are required. The role offers benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Answers the telephone in a courteous manner and directs calls.
  • Receives, processes donations, and schedules pickup tickets for trucks.
  • Greets and assists visitors, signs in clients, and provides information.
  • Performs routine clerical tasks and data entry, including logs and filing.
  • Notifies appropriate staff of donor issues and routes messages to the correct destination.
  • Assists truck drivers with addresses, routes, and scheduling as needed.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pmPosition Type: Full-time with BenefitsThis position is responsible for:Answers the telephone in a courteous manner and directs calls to the appropriate destination; records accurate and complete messages when necessary; receives and receipts deliveries and donations; greets and announces visitors and clients; provides general information about The Salvation Army's operations and services; performs routine clerical work such as data entry and filing. Records accurate and complete donation pickup tickets; plans and schedules the route assignments for Truck Driver(s).Key Responsibilities:Answers the telephone and transfers calls to the appropriate destination; responds to callers questions and provides accurate information.Records accurate and complete messages; ensures the timely and accurate distribution of messages through telephone and/or E-mail.Receives, greets, and announces visitors in a courteous and tactful manner; provides assistance to callers and visitors by answering questions and providing instructions and referrals; screens sales representative soliciting to The Salvation Army.Receives, responds to, and assists people requesting social service assistance; locates appropriate personnel to assist visitors.Notifies proper individuals when visitors or clients have arrived; ensures that visitors and clients have signed-in; retains and organizes log sheetsAssists with various data entry, vendor notifications, and filing projects.Receives and prepares receipts for donations; notifies proper individuals of item arrival by telephone and/or E-mail.Schedules pick up appointments for the truck(s); records accurate and complete pickup tickets; ensures the timely and accurate distribution of tickets.Records and updates pickup information; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.Assists Truck Driver with addresses, location, and schedule times, rescheduling times, phone calls to donor, etc.Contacts donors if there is a problem with the scheduled pick-up and reschedules pick-ups if needed; responds to and attempts to resolve donor complaints.Employee BenefitsHealth InsurancePaid Time OffAflac Supplemental Insurance403B PlanWhat We Are Looking For In YouHigh school diploma or G.E.D. required, ANDTwo years of progressively responsible experience working in a major firm with telephone switchboard responsibilities, with experience working in a business with dispatcher responsibilities, ORAny equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities.Equal Opportunity Employer Veterans/Disabled
