Job summary

Weller Truck Parts is seeking a Rebuild Technician to perform manufacturing and mechanical tasks including disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of transmission components. You will work to meet quality standards and support efficiency, with potential work on automatic or manual transmissions depending on needs.

The role requires basic technical ability, adherence to SOPs and safety policies, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; related technical training is a plus.
• Vocational/technical or trade school in mechanical/industrial field is a plus.
• Automotive repair experience preferred.
• Experience with SOPs, work instructions, and quality systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, diagnose, rebuild, repair and reassemble transmissions and related components.
• Perform quality inspections throughout the rebuild process to ensure specifications are met.
• Follow work instructions, technical docs, and company systems to complete tasks.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, measuring devices and production equipment safely.
• Identify defective or worn components and determine repair or replacement needs.
• Conduct functional testing and inspections to verify product performance.
• Complete production docs, work orders and inspection records accurately.
• Coordinate with team to address quality, production, and material concerns.
• Maintain organized workstations and adhere to 5S standards.
• Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements.

Job Summary

The Rebuild Technician performs a variety of manufacturing and mechanical functions, including the disassembly, inspection, repair, assembly, testing, and preparation of transmission components and assemblies. This position follows established quality, safety, and production standards to ensure the delivery of reliable, high-quality products while supporting operational efficiency, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. Rebuild Technicians may work with automatic transmissions, manual transmissions, or related drivetrain components depending on business needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, diagnose, rebuild, repair, and reassemble transmissions and related components.
• Perform quality inspections throughout the rebuild process to ensure products meet company and customer specifications.
• Utilize work instructions, technical documentation, and company systems to complete assigned work.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and production equipment safely and effectively.
• Identify defective or worn components and determine repair or replacement requirements.
• Conduct functional testing and inspections to verify product performance and quality standards.
• Accurately complete production documentation, work orders, inspection records, and parts transactions.
• Coordinate with team members and leadership to address quality, production, and material concerns.
• Maintain organized workstations and comply with 5S housekeeping standards.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Maintain regular, predictable attendance and punctuality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience with automotive repairs or related experience preferred.
• Experience working with standard operating procedures, work instructions, and quality systems preferred.
• Vocational, technical, or trade school training in a mechanical or industrial field is a plus.
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, inspection, and quality control processes.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including the safe use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems, components, and assembly principles.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, specifications, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements.
• Ability to inspect components and assemblies, identify defects or non-conformances, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and production equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify issues and implement or recommend corrective actions.
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while meeting productivity expectations.
• Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing production demands.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and move throughout the work area for extended periods during an 8- to 10-hour shift.
• Ability to frequently use hands and fingers for handling, assembling, inspecting, and manipulating components, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to reach, grasp, lift, carry, push, and pull materials and components in the performance of assigned duties.
• Ability to frequently lift and move materials, parts, and assemblies weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, and reach as necessary to perform production and assembly activities.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and arms throughout the workday.
• Ability to visually inspect parts, components, and assemblies for quality, defects, and compliance with specifications, including close vision and the ability to distinguish details.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, machinery, and other production equipment.
• Ability to work overtime, extended shifts, and varying schedules as necessary to meet business needs.

Working Conditions

Manufacturing and production environment. Frequent exposure to machinery, moving mechanical parts, oils, lubricants, cleaning agents, and manufacturing materials. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and safety footwear. Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and other manufacturing-related conditions.

Pay Range Starting at $19.00 per hour, with higher starting pay available based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
