Job summary

Weller Truck Parts is seeking a Manuals Rebuild Technician to join our manufacturing team. You will rebuild, diagnose, and assemble manual transmissions and related components while adhering to quality and safety standards.

This role emphasizes teamwork, documentation, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced shop environment. You will work with do PC-based instructions, perform inspections, and coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient, quality output.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational or technical training in mechanical/industrial field is a plus.
• Experience with procedures and quality systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, prepare, repair, assemble, and process transmission components and castings per standards.
• Use work instructions, technical docs, and systems to complete tasks accurately.
• Verify parts and documentation for inventory control.
• Perform quality inspections and identify defects and repair needs.
• Coordinate with teams to maintain workflow and resolve issues.
• Conduct routine safety checks and maintain 5S standards.
• Attend daily meetings and participate in continuous improvement.

Job Summary The Manuals Rebuild Technician performs the rebuilding, repair, inspection, and assembly of manual transmissions and related components according to established quality and production standards. This role is responsible for diagnosing component conditions, utilizing technical resources, ordering parts, maintaining accurate production records, and ensuring compliance with safety requirements. The Manuals Rebuilder contributes to operational success through teamwork, quality workmanship, and a commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Roles and Responsibilities

Inspect, prepare, repair, assemble, and process transmission components and castings in accordance with established quality and production standards. Utilize work instructions, technical documentation, and company systems to complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently. Verify parts, cores, castings, and related documentation to ensure proper processing and inventory control. Perform quality inspections and identify non-conforming materials, defects, and repair requirements. Coordinate with production, quality, machine shop, and support teams to maintain workflow and resolve operational issues. Conduct routine inspections of tools, equipment, and work areas, reporting any safety concerns or equipment issues. Follow all safety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and quality standards. Maintain accurate housekeeping and 5S standards by keeping workstations, tooling, equipment, and production areas clean, organized, and audit-ready. Participate in daily meetings, safety activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintains regular, predictable attendance and punctuality to support production schedules, team operations, and customer requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience with automotive repairs or related experience preferred. Experience working with standard operating procedures, work instructions, and quality systems preferred. Vocational, technical, or trade school training in a mechanical or industrial field is a plus. Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including the safe use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Basic understanding of mechanical systems, components, and assembly principles. Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, specifications, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements. Ability to inspect components and assemblies, identify defects or non-conformances, and ensure compliance with quality standards. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and production equipment safely and effectively. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and implement or recommend corrective actions. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while meeting productivity expectations. Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing production demands. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively as part of a team. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and communicate quality, safety, and production concerns. Basic computer skills and the ability to utilize electronic work instruction systems, such as Dozuki, and other production-related software. Commitment to continuous improvement, quality workmanship, customer satisfaction, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and move throughout the work area for extended periods during an 8- to 10-hour shift. Ability to frequently use hands and fingers for handling, assembling, inspecting, and manipulating components, tools, and equipment. Ability to reach, grasp, lift, carry, push, and pull materials and components in the performance of assigned duties. Ability to frequently lift and move materials, parts, and assemblies weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, and reach as necessary to perform production and assembly activities. Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and arms throughout the workday. Ability to visually inspect parts, components, and assemblies for quality, defects, and compliance with specifications, including close vision and the ability to distinguish details. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, machinery, and other production equipment. Ability to work overtime, extended shifts, and varying schedules as necessary to meet business needs.

Working Conditions

Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment at a workbench or production workstation. Frequent exposure to machinery, moving mechanical parts, noise, oils, lubricants, cleaning agents, paints, and other manufacturing materials. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety footwear. Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and manufacturing-related environmental conditions.
