Clune Construction Company is seeking a Reality Capture Technician to support field data collection with drone, scanning, and site documentation for project teams in Chicago, IL. The role emphasizes developing capture workflows, equipment care, and basic data processing.

The candidate will work with the Virtual Construction Team to deliver accurate field information and will follow FAA rules and internal drone-safety policies in daily field work.

Qualifications

• Experience with photogrammetry, LiDAR, or reality-capture techniques.
• Interest or experience in videography for processing needs.
• Familiarity with CAD/BIM software and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Support UAV capture activities to collect aerial imagery for project needs.
• Support 3D laser scanning to capture as-built conditions.
• Assist point-cloud processing for virtual construction workflows.
• Coordinate with project teams to deliver accurate spatial data.
• Assist point-cloud modeling to produce usable project models.
• Perform simple modeling tasks using point-cloud data.
• Maintain knowledge of FAA requirements and drone safety policies.

Overview

The Reality Capture Technician supports field data collection by performing drone, scanning, and site-documentation activities for project teams. The role requires developing skill in capture workflows, equipment care, and basic data processing. Works closely with virtual construction staff and project teams to deliver accurate field information. This role typically reports to the Virtual Construction Team Lead.

Salary Range: $59,000 - 75,000 The salary range listed reflects a broad scope of potential earnings for this position. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, and internal equity. Please note that it is not common for candidates to be hired at the top of the range. • Support simple modeling tasks using point-cloud data to prepare project-ready model content.
• Maintain working knowledge of FAA requirements and internal drone-safety policies during field work.
• Support logistics-visualization tasks by preparing model content for project presentations.
• Apply reality-capture and point-cloud processing methods to support field data collection.
• Support drone-operations documentation by recording required flight and data-collection information.

Requirements

Education

• Associate of Science (AS) or an equivalent level of work experience preferred.

Work Experience

• Experience with photogrammetry, LiDAR, or additional reality-capture techniques.
• Experience or interest in videography for processing needs.
• Familiarity with CAD/BIM software and workflows.
• Passionate in construction, engineering, or architecture industries.

Licenses and Certifications

• FAA Part 107 certification (optional).
