Job summary

ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to support a high school student with real-time ASL interpretation during instructional periods and activities. This contract role emphasizes accessible communication and inclusive learning within a collaborative educational environment.

The interpreter will work with teachers and counselors to foster student participation, review materials beforehand, and promote inclusion while maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics

Qualifications

• ASL proficiency and interpreting practices in school settings.
• Prior experience as Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in education.
• Ability to interpret spoken language to sign and vice versa with accuracy and impartiality.
• Understanding of needs of Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing students.
• Strong communication and collaboration with educators and staff.
• Commitment to student confidentiality and professional ethics.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time sign language interpretation during all instructional periods and school activities for the student.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and staff to support student integration.
• Facilitate clear communication between student and staff for academic and social inclusion.
• Prepare for classes by reviewing materials to anticipate vocabulary or concepts.
• Serve as a cultural and linguistic resource to promote school inclusion.
