Job summary

Entergy is seeking a System Operator to safely and effectively manage the bulk electric system from within the Transmission Control Center. You will interface with MISO, field personnel, contractors, and neighboring entities while monitoring system conditions to anticipate and mitigate issues that could affect reliability.

Candidates will leverage extensive experience to restore the bulk system to safe conditions before, during, and after disturbances.

Qualifications

• Post high school education or military experience, or at least 4 years in related roles.
• Experience in relay, substation, and/or control center operations.
• NERC System Operator Certification to be obtained within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding of general operating instructions, safety manual, and switching/tagging procedures.
• Identify and contribute to the resolution of complex technical, operational and organizational issues.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Direct switching and clearance processes to reinforce Entergy's safety commitments.
• Operate the Control Area in compliance with FERC, NERC, and SERC policies to ensure reliability.
• Monitor system parameters in real-time and initiate corrective actions as needed.
• Maintain system within SOL and IROL limits with proper documentation of actions.
• Schedule, coordinate, and direct personnel for routine and emergency outages and planning.
• Communicate system status to customers and stakeholders per FERC guidelines.
• Maintain grid awareness by analyzing SCADA alarms and responding accordingly.
• Perform actions related to areas containing Cyber Security Assets.
• Establish and maintain relationships with peers and Transmission Control Center customers.
