Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is seeking a System Operator to monitor and control the bulk electric system with independent decision-making authority to maintain reliability on a 24x7 basis.

The position may start at an entry level with training, requiring progression through NERC certs and task verification, and may involve a travel component. A related technical degree or experience is required, with potential relocation or training commitments.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree plus completion of System Operator training and required NERC certification.
• Two years of relevant work experience plus completion of System Operator training and required NERC certification.
• Four years of relevant work experience with ability to complete task verification and obtain NERC Certification.

Responsibilities

• Monitor bulk electric system parameters and ensure the system operates within defined limits.
• Make independent real-time decisions to alleviate operating emergencies, including load shedding when necessary.
• Operate BES equipment and comply with reliability standards; participate in training and certification as required.
