Job summary

The Clearing House is seeking a Software Engineer to join the RTP Product Engineering team in Charlotte, NC. You will develop and enhance a real-time interbank payment platform, building new applications and features while improving reliability, scalability, and performance.

You will collaborate with RTP Product teams and Operations to deliver high-quality software using Java, Python, cloud, containers, and CI/CD practices. Onsite in Charlotte with a focus on building industry-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, or related field
• 3+ years in Java software development including analysis, design, development, documentation, implementation and testing
• Experience developing Python scripts for data management and automation
• Exposure to AWS or other major public cloud provider and cloud-native architectures
• Understanding of CI/CD and automated build/deployment processes
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Interest in building highly available and reliable systems
• Ability to learn new technologies and work collaboratively

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain highly reliable software for real-time payment processing
• Write clean Java code compliant with quality standards and secure practices
• Develop components using Spring and Spring Boot
• Develop Python scripts for data automation and integration services
• Modernize applications and migrate to cloud-native platforms
• Build and maintain services, APIs, and automated tests
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and design discussions
• Apply CI/CD for automated building, testing, and deployment
• Work with Docker/Kubernetes for containerized deployments
• Build on AWS using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
• Engage with messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ when needed
• Support monitoring, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis
• Follow security, testing, and change-management practices
• Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and operations
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools within enterprise controls
