Job summary

Global Impact Group LLC is seeking Lao Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Lao is a rare Southeast Asian language frequently needed for asylum, refugee, and immigration proceedings.

Responsibilities include real-time Lao-English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders, with adherence to confidentiality and USCIS standards. Remote work with paid training and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Lao and English.
• 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, community, or government preferred).
• Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
• Strong telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time Lao English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
• Interpret accurately and impartially in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
• Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls.
• Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
