Job summary

Toyota Material Handling North America is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to develop firmware and software for real-time embedded control systems. You will work across the product lifecycle with a focus on scalable architecture and code reuse, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers.

You will design, implement, and optimize software for resource-constrained platforms, using C/C++ and RTOS, and participate in testing, validation, and post-deployment support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for resource-constrained embedded platforms.
• Hands-on development using bare-metal programming and/or Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
• Working understanding of hardware communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of core operating system concepts, including interrupts and threading.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable software solutions across embedded products and platforms.
• Design software modules for real-time embedded systems and contribute to system-level decisions.
• Develop low-level firmware for microcontrollers and peripherals.
• Optimize embedded code for performance and memory usage.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers throughout development.
• Support software across the full product lifecycle from design to deployment.
• Test and validate software on dedicated setups and real hardware.
• Troubleshoot issues and provide post-deployment support in the field.
