Toyota Material Handling North America seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement, and validate embedded software for real-time control systems. You will translate requirements into robust software architectures, develop control algorithms, and support testing, deployment, and field troubleshooting.

The role emphasizes safety-critical development, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration across systems, hardware, software, quality, and validation teams.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
• 10+ years of embedded software and control systems experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ on embedded microcontroller platforms.
• Strong foundation in control theory and PID control.
• Experience implementing, testing, and validating control algorithms.
• Experience with safety-critical products and safety processes.
• Familiar with software verification/validation methodologies.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and tune control algorithms for embedded and real-time applications.
• Translate requirements into software architectures, specifications, and control strategies.
• Develop production-quality C/C++ software for microcontroller-based platforms.
• Implement communication software per applicable standards.
• Create and maintain software requirements, documentation, and traceability.
• Develop unit, integration, and system-level test strategies.
• Support system integration, troubleshooting, and field issues.
• Participate in architecture, design, code, and safety reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve coding standards and processes.
