Job summary

RTX seeks a highly skilled software engineer to develop and test real-time embedded software for DoD programs. You will contribute across the software lifecycle from requirements to deployment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to meet stringent performance and security goals.

The role emphasizes hands-on debugging, CI/CD practices, and integration with hardware. On-site work in El Segundo, CA, with full-time benefits and security clearance considerations.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited institution.
• Experience developing, and testing or debugging software using C, C++, or similar object-oriented programming language.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or similar.
• Real time embedded software development experience.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving experience.
• Experience developing software in a team-based development environment with strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work on complex technical problems and collaborate to provide innovative solutions. Requires investigation and troubleshooting skills to assess issues and develop resolutions.
• Work at all phases of the SW development lifecycle, including SW/HW integration, dependent on program phase
• Assist in the derivation of system and software requirements, architectural modeling, and technical analysis
• Design, code, unit test, integrate, and document real-time embedded software solutions with a focus on Secure Software Solution implementations.
• Participate actively in software peer reviews, code inspections, and technical decision-making alongside multidisciplinary teams, including program leadership and customers
• Support program execution to ensure work products meet technical, cost, schedule, and quality baselines.
• Follow established software development processes and practices to maintain software product integrity.
• Work Location: Onsite at our El Segundo, CA Campus
• This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
