Job summary

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is a not-for-profit organization that manages real estate and property for the Yard on behalf of New York City. The Counsel role supports the Legal department, reporting to the General Counsel, with a salary in the $90,000–$105,000 range and exempt status.

The Counsel will draft and negotiate leases, real estate agreements, and contracts; advise executives; and coordinate with staff, outside counsel, and consultants on litigation,

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required and NYS Bar admission.
• 1–4 years of private or public sector legal experience.
• Experience in transactional real estate preferred.
• Interest in litigation and/or compliance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate leases, subleases, and other real estate agreements for BNYDC.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, such as construction and consulting contracts.
• Collaborate with staff, outside counsel and consultants on litigation matters.
• Prepare for and support Board of Directors and committee meetings.
