Job summary

The Counsel position at New York City Economic Development Corporation provides legal support for programs and projects under senior attorneys and the General Counsel. This role emphasizes transactional work, drafting and negotiating leases, licenses, permits, consultant and professional services agreements, and related instruments.

You will manage transactions through closing, assist with governance materials for Boards of Directors, and coordinate with internal teams and outside counsel.

Qualifications

• JD from ABA-accredited law school and NY Bar in good standing.
• 2+ years post-law-school experience in real estate, finance, contracts or related fields.
• Strong communication, research, and drafting abilities.
• Experience supporting litigation or coordination with outside counsel.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate leases, licenses, permits, and contracts.
• Assist with real estate and economic development transactions and financings.
• Coordinate with developers, lenders, and public agencies on negotiations.
• Advise staff on legal, contractual, and corporate requirements.
• Support closing of transactions and governance-related matters for Boards.
