Job summary

Maine Department of Transportation is seeking a supervisory real estate paralegal in the Title Office within the Office of Legal Services in Augusta, Maine. The role focuses on title abstracting, reading plans, and drafting real estate documents for property acquisitions and conveyances.

The candidate will oversee and mentor paralegals, coordinate with the Property Office Manager and Transportation Counsel, and ensure accuracy of title and mapping records in the condemnation process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of paralegal experience in a law firm, court, or legal services agency, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train the Department's real estate paralegals in the Title Office.
• Prepare and review title work; review legal descriptions and compare them to right-of-way maps.
• Draft and review real estate transactional documents, including closing documents, for condemnation and other property conveyances.
