Job summary

Gaines Investment Trust is seeking a Business Analyst to transform data into actionable insights, owning recurring reporting and helping leadership identify trends, risks, and opportunities. You’ll support purchasing, vendor analysis, and maintain audit-ready records, using SQL, spreadsheets, and AI tools to improve data gathering and reporting.

The role requires analytical, detail-oriented, and organized individuals who can manage deadlines, with in-person collaboration at our La Jolla

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BBA)
• 1–3 years of professional experience
• SQL skills, including queries, reporting, and data analysis
• Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills
• Coursework or hands-on experience with database management
• Comfortable using AI tools for analysis, reporting, and process improvement
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with urgency
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter who takes ownership
• Purchasing or property management software experience is a plus
• Real estate or previous analyst experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Own weekly, monthly, and annual reporting and continually improve its structure and efficiency
• Build and maintain reporting workflows using SQL, spreadsheets, and AI tools
• Standardize reports so information is accurate, consistent, and easy for leadership to interpret
• Track lender reporting, property tax deadlines, permits, licenses, and other key compliance requirements
• Maintain organized, audit-ready records and flag upcoming deadlines or risks
• Manage and improve the company’s purchasing process
• Build dashboards and analytics to track spending, vendor performance, order timing, and budget variances
• Support vendor sourcing, pricing analysis, negotiations, and purchasing decisions
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and ways to improve purchasing practices
• Cross-train with the accounting team and provide backup coverage as needed
