Job summary

The Toledo Lucas County Public Library is seeking a Ready to Read Early Literacy Specialist in Toledo, OH. This role focuses on outreach to families with young children, training staff and caregivers, and promoting early literacy initiatives across the system.

Under the Youth Services Coordinator, you will lead outreach programs, deliver training based on proven curricula, and collaborate with teachers and community partners to expand access to library resources and literacy opportunities for

Qualifications

MLS from an ALA-accredited library school with two years librarian experience.
BA/BS degree with four years librarian experience OR BA/BS in early childhood education or related field.
Coursework in early childhood education, child development, or reading instruction.
Minimum of 3 years related work experience.
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance eligibility.

Responsibilities

Meet families of young children outside the Library to provide early literacy training and resources.
Deliver training to adults based on Every Child Ready to Read, 2nd edition.
Provide Ohio-approved training to early childhood teachers.
Serve as liaison between early childhood centers and the Library.
Conduct surveys and collect statistics for early literacy outreach.
Lead work groups and present at professional conferences.
Build community partnerships to further the Library’s mission.
