Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library's Parsons Branch is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist to create positive, engaging experiences for youth and caregivers, promote literacy, and deliver quality programs aligned with the Young Minds Strategy. The role supports outreach to schools and community groups, maintains safe, welcoming spaces, and collaborates with staff to plan events.

Starting pay is $21.49–$28.89 per hour, part-time, non-exempt, with a schedule including afternoons/evenings and

Qualifications

• 2-3 years’ experience working with youth or in community engagement.
• Experience delivering programs and services to diverse audiences preferred.
• Interest and ability to engage youth and caregivers with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Provides high-level customer service by engaging youth and families with library resources and programs.
• Creates a safe, welcoming environment balancing fun, activities and relationship building.
• Presents programs for children of all ages at the location and off-site.
• Answers questions and refers to sources using diverse tools and resources.
• Connects with schools and community organizations to promote Young Minds programs.
• Maintains orderly children’s and teen areas and supports safety.
