Job summary

CalPortland is seeking a Ready-Mix Driver to transport freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to project sites and perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance. You will safely operate a mixer truck, communicate with dispatch, and support customers on site.

The ideal candidate will hold a current CDL with airbrakes and a tank endorsement, maintain a clean driving record, possess a DOT medical card, and be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must have a current Commercial Class A or B driver’s license with airbrakes and tank endorsement.
• Safe driving record - no serious moving violations within the past 36 months; no more than two moving violations within the past 24 months.
• Must have a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certificate.
• Ability to read a map and understand verbal and GPS driving route instructions.
• Must have familiarity with slumps.
• Good attendance and punctuality a must.
• Ability to work in extremes of hot and cold weather.
• Must have the physical ability to: climb, stoop, bend, squat, frequently lift extension chutes (up to 60 lbs.), stretch, drive/sit and shift gears.
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, State, and Federal regulations.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with flexible hours, hours vary; overtime work, weekends and nights, may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Deliver ready-mix concrete to various job sites.
• Operate a multi-axle mixer truck safely, obeying all traffic laws.
• Clean and wash vehicle to remove concrete buildup on exterior parts.
• Must be willing to work according to customer demands.
• Operate a radio to communicate with company personnel.
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, state and federal regulations.
• Report all incidents/injuries to management as soon as they occur.
• Attend safety meetings as scheduled by management.

This individual will be responsible for making normal operating adjustments to the equipment and material being hauled. • Experience in ready-mix or heavy construction industries
• 2+ years of commercial driving experience

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
