Job summary

CalPortland seeks a Ready-Mix Driver to transport freshly mixed concrete from batch plants to job sites, ensuring safety and customer service. The role involves operating a multi-axle mixer truck, performing routine inspections, and making operating adjustments as needed.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid Commercial Driver's License with airbrakes and tank endorsement, a current DOT Medical Card, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• CDL with airbrakes and tank endorsement required.
• Valid DOT Medical Card required.
• Clean driving record with no serious violations in 36 months.
• Ability to read maps and follow GPS directions.
• Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs and operate a mixer truck.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Deliver ready-mix concrete to various job sites.
• Operate a multi-axle mixer truck safely, obeying traffic laws.
• Clean and wash vehicle, removing concrete buildup.
• Work according to customer demands and communicate via radio.
• Adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
• Report all incidents/injuries to management promptly.
• Attend safety meetings as scheduled.

The Ready-Mix Driver will be responsible for all duties of the position, including the transporting of freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to the job site in a safe manner. This individual will be responsible for making normal operating adjustments to the equipment and material being hauled. • Operate a radio to communicate with company personnel
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, state, and federal regulations
• Responsible for reporting all incidents/injuries to management as soon as they occur
• Attend safety meetings as scheduled by management

Education

High School Diploma/GED

Requirements/Qualifications

• Must have currentCommercial Class A or B driver’s license with airbrakes and tank endorsement
• Safe driving record (will have to provide DMV H-6 printout) - no serious moving violations within the past 36 months; no more than two moving violations within the past 24 months
• Must have a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certificate
• Ability to read a map and understand verbal and GPS driving route instructions
• Must have familiarity with slumps
• Good attendance and punctuality a must
• Ability to work in extremes of hot and cold weather
• Must have the physical ability to: climb, stoop, bend, squat, frequently lift extension chutes (up to 60 lbs.), stretch, drive/sit and shift gears
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, State, and Federal regulations
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with flexible hours, hours vary; overtime work, weekends and nights, may be required

Preferred:

• Experience in ready-mix or heavy construction industries
• 2+ years of commercial driving experience

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
