Job summary

CalPortland is seeking a Ready-Mix Driver in Oregon to transport freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to job sites. You will perform routine vehicle inspections, maintain a clean mixer, and communicate with dispatch to meet customer needs.

The ideal candidate holds a valid Commercial CDL (Class A or B) with air brakes and a tank endorsement, a clean driving record, and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and nights.

Qualifications

• Must have current Commercial Class A or B driver's license with airbrakes and tank endorsement.
• Safe driving record - no serious moving violations within the past 36 months; no more than two moving violations within the past 24 months.
• Must have a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certificate.
• Ability to read a map and understand verbal and GPS driving route instructions.
• Must have familiarity with slumps.
• Good attendance and punctuality a must.
• Ability to work in extremes of hot and cold weather.
• Must have the physical ability to: climb, stoop, bend, squat, frequently lift extension chutes (up to 60 lbs.), stretch, drive/sit and shift gears.
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, State, and Federal regulations
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with flexible hours, hours vary; overtime work, weekends and nights, may be required

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections
• Deliver ready-mix concrete to various job sites
• Operate a multi-axle mixer truck safely, obeying all traffic laws
• Clean and wash vehicle to include the removal of concrete buildup on all exterior parts of the mixer
• Must be willing to work according to customer demands
• Operate a radio to communicate with company personnel
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, state, and federal regulations
• Responsible for reporting all incidents/injuries to management as soon as they occur
• Attend safety meetings as scheduled by management

The Ready-Mix Driver will be responsible for all duties of the position, including the transporting of freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to the job site in a safe manner. This individual will be responsible for making normal operating adjustments to the equipment and material being hauled. Preferred:

• Experience in ready-mix or heavy construction industries
• 2+ years of commercial driving experience

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
