Job summary

CalPortland is seeking a Ready-Mix Driver in Escondido to transport freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to job sites. The role requires safe operation of a multi-axle mixer, daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and strict adherence to safety regulations.

Candidates must hold a Commercial Class A or B license with airbrakes and tank endorsement, a current DOT Medical Certificate, and a clean DMV record.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Current Commercial Class A or B license with airbrakes and tank endorsement.
• Safe driving record (no serious moving violations in past 36 months; no more than two moving violations in past 24 months).
• Current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certificate.
• Ability to read a map and understand verbal and GPS driving route instructions.
• Must have familiarity with slumps and be able to work flexible hours (overtime, weekends, nights).
• Experience in ready-mix or heavy construction industries and 2+ years of commercial driving preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Deliver ready-mix concrete to various job sites.
• Operate a multi-axle mixer truck safely, obeying all traffic laws.
• Clean and wash vehicle, removing concrete buildup on exterior parts.
• Be willing to work according to customer demands.
• Operate a radio to communicate with company personnel.
• Adhere to safety regulations including company policies and state/federal rules.
• Report all incidents/injuries to management; attend safety meetings.

Job description

The Ready-Mix Driver will be responsible for all duties of the position, including the transporting of freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to the job site in a safe manner. This individual will be responsible for making normal operating adjustments to the equipment and material being hauled. We are seeking a candidate with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and great customer service skills.

Compensation

$27.00 - $36.00/hr DOE

• Responsible for reporting all incidents/injuries to management as soon as they occur
• Attend safety meetings as scheduled by management

Education

High School Diploma/GED

Requirements/Qualifications

• Must have currentCommercial Class A or B driver’s license with airbrakes and tank endorsement
• Safe driving record (will have to provide DMV H-6 printout) - no serious moving violations within the past 36 months; no more than two moving violations within the past 24 months
• Must have a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certificate
• Ability to read a map and understand verbal and GPS driving route instructions
• Must have familiarity with slumps
• Good attendance and punctuality a must
• Ability to work in extremes of hot and cold weather
• Must have the physical ability to: climb, stoop, bend, squat, frequently lift extension chutes (up to 60 lbs.), stretch, drive/sit and shift gears
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, State, and Federal regulations
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with flexible hours, hours vary; overtime work, weekends and nights, may be required

Preferred:

• Experience in ready-mix or heavy construction industries
• 2+ years of commercial driving experience

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
