Job summary

Ampact's Reading Corps is seeking Reading Tutors to help students become strong readers at local schools. You will be trained to deliver proven activities and coached throughout the program, guiding pairs of students for 20 minutes of daily reading practice and tracking progress with the onsite coach.

Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a biweekly paycheck, with compensation of $20.78 per hour and additional benefits, including education assistance and loan programs.

Qualifications

• By the time you begin your service with Reading Corps, you should be:
• Dependable and have a history of good attendance
• Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback
• Proficient in basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
• A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
• Able to successfully complete a background check

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult who's focused on helping students thrive
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training
• Share your experience with the community
