Job summary
Ampact's Reading Corps is seeking a Reading Tutor to help students become strong readers. You will tutor paired students for 20 minutes daily, with coaching and training provided to support your growth, and you’ll return students to class after each session.
You’ll work on a regular schedule with weekend-free, daytime hours during the school term, and opportunities for part-time roles are available. AmeriCorps stipend details are provided on the program page.
Qualifications
- Dependable with a history of good attendance.
- Able to follow instructions and improve based on feedback.
- Proficient in basic computer skills (email, online navigation).
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).
- 18+ with HS diploma or equivalent.
- U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
- Able to successfully complete a background check.
Responsibilities
- Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
- Be a caring adult focused on helping children thrive.
- Track student progress and meet regularly with the school’s on-site coach.
- Conduct skill assessments and enter scores in data software.
- Commit to growth through coaching and training.
- Share experiences with the community.
