Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Teaching/Special Education certification preferred.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience as a Reading Specialist.
• Experience serving individuals with neurological differences.
• Understanding of Unique Learning curriculum.
• Strong collaboration with teachers and therapeutic staff.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate students who may struggle with reading or writing.
• Create lesson plans to improve literacy.
• Instruct individual students or small groups.
• Coach students on techniques and skills to improve literacy.
• Support, supplement, and extend classroom teaching.
• Support implementation of a quality reading program.
• Conduct assessments to determine reading levels and learning needs.
• Collaborate with teachers to develop individualized reading goals and plans.
• Model and provide guidance to classroom teachers in literacy instruction.
• Administer or support teachers with DRA (Beginning and End of Year), staff development.
