Job summary

Naugatuck Public Schools is seeking a Reading/Math Assistant to support students in small groups or one-on-one sessions for approximately 19.75 hours per week. This non-certified position works under the supervision of the Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher and the Building Principal, cooperating with classroom teachers to deliver targeted interventions.

• Complies with all published and disseminated rules, regulations, and policies of the Board of Education.
• Provides instruction, as directed by the classroom teacher and/or Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher to students in need of intervention.
• Monitors student progress throughout the year using various assessment tools, if appropriate.
• Respects the privacy of the people for whom services are provided.
• Provides feedback on student progress to classroom teacher and/or Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher.
• Establishes and maintains sound relationships with students, parents, teachers, non-teaching personnel, and administrators.
• Provides information for meetings as requested.
• Performs additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment.

Job description

The reading/math assistant is assigned to a set number of hours per week (19.75). The reading/math assistant works under the supervision of the Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher and the building principal. The reading/math interventionist works in conjunction with the classroom teacher and/or Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher to provide individual or small group instruction.
