Job summary

Care New England Health System is seeking a CPD Certified Technician to perform reprocessing of instruments, supplies, and equipment used in patient care. The role includes receiving, transporting, and sterilizing items and supporting the department and other hospital staff as needed.

You will collect and process contaminated items, monitor sterilization processes, manage case carts, and assist with inventory and shortages while communicating effectively with team members in a busy hospital

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Certification as Registered Central Service Technician (RCST) required.
• One year previous experience in central processing operations preferred.
• Proficiency in the English language required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, transports, receives, and processes contaminated instruments, equipment, linen and refuse.
• Sorts, inspects, assembles, wraps, and sterilizes various instrumentation, linens, and supplies per kit lists.
• Performs and interprets sterilization monitoring activities.
• Retrieves preference cards from the computer based on the case schedule.
• Maintains inventory and replenishes sterile linens for surgery, OR, and recovery areas.
• Prepares case carts according to preference cards.
• Serves as a resource to coworkers and hospital staff.
• Tracks supply inventory and reports shortages to supervisor.
• Assists other department staff as needed.
