Job summary

Care New England Health System in Rhode Island seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, inspect, process and assemble surgical instrumentation for the Operating Room and Sterile Processing area.

The role requires CRCST certification, at least 6 months of surgical services experience, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with inventory management, computer systems and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• 6 months of Surgical Services experience preferred.
• Required to have HSPA CRCST certification.
• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Must have skills and abilities in inventory management, analytical skills, problem solving, interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication, team leadership and participation, and the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, inspect, process and assemble surgical instrumentation for the Operating Room, Sterile Processing area, and durable patient care equipment.
• Operate sterilizers, washers/decontaminators, automatic endoscope reprocessors, and perform high level disinfection with testing and record-keeping.
• Disinfect video scopes and auxiliary equipment and perform visual inspections and tests.
• Understand cleaning protocols for all instruments used in the OR and use appropriate detergents.
• Visually inspect instruments for cleanliness and function before assembly.
• Assemble instrument trays and wrap items per size and type.
• Read and interpret sterilizer test parameters to ensure proper function.
• Coordinate with OR schedule and supply chain for case requirements.
• Follow federal/state regulations and infection control policies.
