Job summary

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New London, NH seeks a Central Sterile Technician to decontaminate, clean, process and sterilize supplies following infection control guidelines.

You will follow manufacturer instructions for steam and low-temperature sterilization, inspect and assemble instrument kits, and deliver sterile items across departments within 48 hours. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

  • After one year of full-time work experience, obtain central sterile certification.

Responsibilities

  • Follows manufacturer instructions for use for steam and low temperature sterilization
  • Follows manufacturer instructions for use for decontamination, disinfection of instruments, and flexible endoscopes according to department standards and industry guidelines
  • Demonstrates knowledge of surgical instrument kits
  • Demonstrates knowledge of how to properly inspect and assemble kits
  • Adheres to hospital policies for CSR as well as follow AAMI guidelines
  • Performs equipment testing: Bowies and Biologicals, and reports any abnormal results to the supervisor
  • Delivery of sterile instruments and kits in a timely manner, within 48 hours, to other departments within the hospital
  • Maintains a clean work environment in accordance to regulator guidelines and hospital policy
  • Attends staff meetings and in services
  • Stays up to date on departmental communication and required annual and periodical competencies
  • Participates in orientation of new staff as needed
  • Completes other daily tasks as requested and assigned
  • Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned
  • Answer the phone and take messages when needed
  • Help with different reps that come in with trays or help with them taking trays out
  • Help the OR when they are looking for a kit or instrument

  • Adheres to hospital policies for CSR as well as follow AAMI guidelines (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instruments
  • Performs equipment testing: Bowies and Biologicals, and reports any abnormal results to the supervisor
  • Delivery of sterile instruments and kits in a timely manner, within 48 hours, to other departments within the hospital
  • Maintains a clean work environment in accordance to regulator guidelines and hospital policy. Damp dusting horizontal surfaces, end of day cleaning, removal of trash and laundry
  • Attends staff meetings and in services
  • Stays up to date on departmental communication and required annual and periodical competencies
  • Participates in orientation of new staff as needed
  • Completes other daily tasks as requested and assigned
  • Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned

Required Licensure/Certifications
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: Central Sterile certification required 18 months years of hire; to be obtained through CBSPD.
