Job summary

Care New England Health System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, clean, process and assemble surgical instrumentation for the Operating Room and Sterile Processing area.

You will operate pre-vacuum/gravity steam sterilizers, washer/decontaminators and endoscope reprocessors, perform high-level disinfection, inspect instruments for cleanliness and function, and collaborate with OR staff to ensure timely availability of sterile equipment.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• CRCST certification required.
• Strong inventory management, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, inspect, process and assemble surgical instrumentation for the Operating Room and Sterile Processing area.
• Operate pre-vacuum/gravity steam sterilizers, washer/decontaminators, and automatic endoscope reprocessors; perform high level disinfection and testing.
• Disinfect video scopes and auxiliary equipment; conduct visual inspection and operational testing.
• Understand cleaning protocols and use appropriate agents; wrap/pouch instruments as needed.
• Read and interpret sterilizer parameters to ensure proper function; perform challenge tests as required.
• Coordinate with OR schedule and Supply Chain to organize supplies for each surgical case.
• Comply with federal/state regulations and infection control policies.
• Perform minor troubleshooting and maintain sterile supplies, crash carts and related equipment.
• Practice Universal Precautions and participate in process improvement initiatives.
