Job summary

YAI - Seeing beyond disability in New Jersey seeks a dedicated Direct Support Professional to supervise and care for individuals with developmental needs, ensuring safety and adherence to plans. You will support learning, assist with daily living, and help build social connections.

The role requires HS diploma, valid license, and ability to meet physical demands; RBT certification or similar is preferred where required. This position emphasizes compassion, safety, and community integration.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or its educational equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License may be required based on position/location.
• Must hold or obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within one year of appointment (or equivalent for CA).
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands (walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds).

Responsibilities

• Supervise, protect, and care for individuals at all times; enforce house rules.
• Provide learning and training in fire safety; identify signs of harm and escalate appropriately.
• Implement and monitor Individual Behavior Support Plans (IBSPs) / IPPs; crisis management as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment; follow infection control protocols.
