Job summary
BNSF Railway is offering a Summer Intern position in the Mechanical department. This full-time internship (minimum 40 hrs/week) includes hands-on experience in railway mechanics, maintenance, troubleshooting, and project work, with potential for full-time Trainee opportunities after graduation.
Locations include multiple sites with a two-day Fort Worth orientation, on-the-job field training, and opportunities to work with seasoned professionals in a 24/7 operations environment.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Industrial Distribution, Automotive, Business, Technical, Engineering or related field.
- GPA of at least 2.75.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States and 18+ years old on hire.
- Able to relocate and travel as required for the internship.
- Ability to visually distinguish colors.
Responsibilities
- Maintain locomotives and freight cars on BNSF's network.
- Ensure safety of the team and manage project communications.
- Shadow mechanical supervisors and assist in supervision, monitoring, and inspection of maintenance work.
