Job summary

BNSF Railway is hiring for a Conductor Trainee – Primary Recall in Gillette, Wyoming. The position is full-time (40 hours/week) with on-call requirements and potential seasonal adjustments. Training is on-the-job and in a classroom setting, including travel to Overland Park, KS. A 3-year primary recall obligation applies from date of hire.

The role supports safe freight movement, learning train operations, safety protocols, and real-time data coordination within the Transportation Department.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization.

Responsibilities

• Communication responsibilities: obtain, receive, and act on information; monitor and report daily work; climb on/off equipment; operate hand brakes and air hoses.
• Switching functions: operate track switches and derails to change train routing; check switch points for proper alignment.
• Train and equipment inspections: inspect cars per federal regulations; monitor track conditions and report issues; ensure safe train make-up.
