Job summary

BNSF Railway is hiring a Conductor Trainee for the Springfield, MO area under a Primary Recall arrangement. The role focuses on learning to manage train operations, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and contribute to efficient freight movement with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

The work is full-time (40 hours/week) with on-call requirements, nights, weekends, and holidays. Training includes on-the-job and classroom instruction across up to 19 weeks at a training center in

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Able to work safely in challenging conditions.
• Lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
• Climb ladders and get on/off equipment.
• Willingness to travel within the seniority region.

Responsibilities

• Communicate information via various devices, monitor and report daily work; climb on/off equipment and handle hand brakes and air hoses.
• Operate track switches and derails to change train routing and verify switch alignment.
• Inspect trains and equipment per federal regulations and monitor track conditions.
• Perform duties in a safety-sensitive environment under diverse weather and hazardous conditions.
• Adhere to safety policies, wear PPE, and participate in safety conversations.
