Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is seeking a Track Laborer to help maintain the safety and reliability of railroad infrastructure. The role involves outdoor work in all weather, using hand tools and heavy equipment to maintain, repair, and replace track components.

This position offers on-the-job training and growth opportunities within a dynamic team environment. You will operate with a strong emphasis on safety, read and follow regulations, and collaborate with mentors and supervisors to complete tasks

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED or equivalent
• Must be 18+ and have a valid driver's license
• Able to read and follow safety rules, manuals, and regulations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with heavy hand tools and outdoor work is a plus
• CDL is a plus or willing to obtain if required
• Situational awareness and safety-focused decision making

Responsibilities

• Comply with all railroad safety and operating regulations
• Repair and rebuild railroad track using hydraulic or hand tools
• Remove and replace ties and rails; drive spikes and load materials
• Inspect tools and equipment to ensure safe condition before use
• Use torches, hammers, jacks, rail saws, and other mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues
• Perform other duties as assigned
