Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is seeking a Track Laborer to help maintain the safety and reliability of railroad infrastructure. The role involves outdoor work in all weather, using hand tools and heavy equipment to maintain and repair track components.

This is a physically active position with hands-on training and growth opportunities within a team-driven environment. The role requires working outdoors, lifting up to 76 pounds, and a willingness to work varied schedules including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• At least eighteen years of age.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all federal, state, and other applicable railroad safety and operational regulations.
• Follow instructions from a certified trainer, mentor, or supervisor.
• Repair and rebuild railroad track using hydraulic or hand tools.
• Remove and replace ties and rails; pull and drive spikes; shovel rock ballast; load and unload equipment and material.
• Inspect tools and equipment for defects to ensure safe condition before use.
• Use various tools and equipment, including torches, hammers, jacks, railsaws and other mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot problems on equipment.
