Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is hiring a Track Laborer to maintain and repair railroad track outdoors in various weather conditions. You’ll handle hand tools and heavy equipment, with hands-on training and real growth opportunities within a team-driven environment.

The role emphasizes safety, readiness to work nights/weekends as needed, and a path for skills advancement in a dynamic railroad setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to read safety rules, manuals, and regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with heavy hand tools and outdoor work is a plus.
• CDL is a plus or willingness to obtain if required.

Responsibilities

• Comply with federal, state, and applicable railroad safety regulations.
• Repair and rebuild railroad track using hydraulic or hand tools.
• Remove and replace ties and rails; pull and drive spikes; shovel ballast.
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe condition prior to use.
• Use torches, hammers, jacks, rail saws and other mechanical tools.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot problems on equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
