Job summary

Benesch's Railroad Division is offering an exciting internship opportunity for civil engineering students focusing on railroad track design. As an intern, you will collaborate on real-world railway and transit projects, gaining hands‑on experience in design, development, and project execution.

You will support senior engineers, develop task deliverables, and learn to perform engineering calculations while working in a hybrid schedule from our Naperville office, with possible assignments at

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Civil or Construction Engineering or related curriculum.
• Experience using MicroStation to develop plans and specifications.
• Strong organization and leadership with budgets and schedules.
• Ability to perform complex analysis and design.
• Ability to assemble a complete design package for projects.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and development of railway and transit infrastructure projects.
• Conduct engineering calculations for railway system design and analysis.
• Support the design of system layouts while coordinating with various disciplines.
• Develop task deliverables in a clear, thorough, and reviewable manner.
• Ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within the assigned budget.
• Work independently under the direction of a Project Manager.
