Job summary

Benesch's Railroad Division offers an exciting internship for civil engineering students with a focus on railroad track design. You will collaborate on real‑world railway and transit projects, gaining hands‑on experience in design, development, and project execution.

You will support senior engineers and contribute to design processes while coordinating with discipline leads. Pursuing a BS in Civil or Construction Engineering and experience with MicroStation are preferred.

Qualifications

• Pursuing your BS in Civil or Construction Engineering or in a related engineering curriculum required
• Progressive experience with developing plans and specifications utilizing MicroStation.
• Strong organization and leadership skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules.
• Ability to perform complex analysis and design
• Ability to assemble a complete design package for assigned elements or projects.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of railway and transit infrastructure projects.
• Conduct engineering calculations for railway system design and analysis.
• Support the design of system layouts while coordinating with various disciplines.
• Develop task deliverables in a clear, thorough, and reviewable manner.
• Ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within the assigned budget.
• Work independently under the direction of a Project Manager.
