Job summary

Benesch's Railroad Division invites applications for a Civil Engineering Internship focused on railroad track design. Interns will collaborate on real-world railway projects, gaining hands-on experience in design, development, and project execution while supporting senior engineers.

You’ll contribute to design processes, develop deliverables, and learn to manage tasks within budgets, working with a Project Manager in a hybrid office environment across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in Civil or Construction Engineering or related engineering curriculum required.
• Progressive experience with developing plans and specifications utilizing MicroStation.
• Strong organization and leadership skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules.
• Ability to perform complex analysis and design.
• Ability to assemble a complete design package for assigned elements or projects.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of railway and transit infrastructure projects.
• Conduct engineering calculations for railway system design and analysis.
• Support the design of system layouts while coordinating with various disciplines.
• Develop task deliverables in a clear, thorough, and reviewable manner.
• Ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within the assigned budget.
• Work independently under the direction of a Project Manager.
