Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Cody, WY to oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for freight railroads and related partners.

The CIC will lead field safety, coordinate with train dispatchers, and ensure adherence to FRA regulations while managing deployments 50% to 85% of the time. Candidates must travel extensively and pass required trainings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company, preferably in MOW or TY&E.
• Must be able to travel 50–85% and deploy for multi-month assignments.
• Must successfully complete all required trainings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Ensure compliance with FRA regulations (49 CFR 214) within track limits.
• Monitor track conditions and coordinate with train movements.
• Document activities and submit reports to management and regulators.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
