Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a Contractor in Charge (CIC) to oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners in Buffalo, NY.

The CIC will lead on-site safety programs, conduct job briefings, monitor train movements, and coordinate with dispatchers to ensure operations stay within approved limits.

Qualifications

• Strong computer, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability for long-term travel assignments (multi-month deployments).
• Valid Driver's License and clean safety record.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Ensure compliance with FRA regulations during track work (49 CFR).
• Monitor track conditions and coordinate with train movements to keep personnel safe.
• Document all activities, including job briefings, incident reports, and daily logs.
• Enforce railroad, state, and federal policies.
