Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Phoenix, AZ to oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for railroad projects.

This essential role ensures all work within railroad rights-of-way is performed safely and in accordance with FRA and other regulations. The CIC will lead field teams, conduct safety briefings, monitor track conditions, coordinate with dispatchers, and document activities.

Qualifications

• Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability for long-term travel assignments, including multi-month deployments.
• Valid Driver's License and High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company, preferably in MOW/TY&E.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed within railroad rights-of-way.
• Conduct job briefings and ensure compliance with FRA regulations during work near tracks.
• Monitor track conditions, approaching trains, and daily work activities to keep personnel safe.
• Coordinate train movements with dispatchers/engineers and document all activities for management and regulators.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.
