Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is seeking a Conductor in Columbus, GA to move freight safely and efficiently. You’ll receive classroom and hands-on training, work outdoors in all weather, and advance in a dynamic railroad environment. Expect a physically active role with strong growth opportunities.

You will comply with safety regulations, communicate with the team, operate track switches, and perform rail yard duties while maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Pre‑employment physical, hearing, and vision screening.
• Background screening including criminal and motor vehicle records.

Responsibilities

• Comply with federal, state, and other applicable railroad safety and operational regulations.
• Coordinate train or railcar movement with team using signals or radio instructions.
• Operate track switches to determine the route of the train or rail equipment.
• Evaluate, plan, and complete all assigned work safely and efficiently.
• Read and understand the rule books and other written or printed material.
