Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) is hiring a Conductor to move freight safely and efficiently. You’ll receive classroom and hands-on training to build a long-term career, working outdoors in all weather. Expect a physically active role with growth opportunities within a dynamic railroad environment.

The position emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to railroad regulations, with full-time hours and a path toward advancement across our network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience in a safety-sensitive environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Comply with federal, state, and railroad safety regulations.
• Follow instructions from trainers, mentors, or supervisors.
• Communicate with team using oral, hand signals, lantern signals, or radio to coordinate train movements.
• Operate track switches to determine train routes and yard movements.
• Plan and complete assigned work safely and efficiently.
• Climb on/off equipment and walk the length of the train or yard.
• Attach/detach brakes and control movement of railcars as needed.
• Read and understand rule books and other written materials.
• Inspect train and equipment for safety compliance during movement and at rest.
