Job summary

The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. is seeking a Welder I to perform quality welding of railcar parts in a production setting. You will visually inspect welds, follow Weld Procedure Sheets, and assemble fixtures using welding machines, torches, and hand tools.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, can read instructions, and can work independently or in a team. Experience with arc welding and forklift/overhead crane operation is preferred, and weld qualifications training is provided.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications: follow verbal and written instructions; work independently or with a team; able to complete and pass weld qualifications testing after company-provided weld training.

Responsibilities

  • Fits, aligns, and clamps work, usually in fixtures, to prepare for welding steel.
  • Performs basic manual or semi-automatic arc welding of railcar parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies on production line.
  • Follows job orders including Weld Procedure Sheets at the production line workstation.
  • Visually inspects work, repairs defective welds, and performs minor repairs.
  • Ensures safety and housekeeping standards are met and PPE is followed and maintained.
