Job summary

The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. seeks an intermediate Welder Technician to refurbish and repair rail car components in a safety-focused environment. You will follow AAR procedures, quality requirements, and company safety rules while performing duties.

You will use welders and related tools, inspect welds, and collaborate with supervisors and teammates to complete tasks efficiently and accurately. Prior welding experience in manufacturing is preferred; PPE is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail.
• Ability to read blueprints and work orders.
• Experience with welding, cutting, gouging, inspecting, and testing using welding tools.
• Proficient in performing complex weld repairs in flat and horizontal positions.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains knowledge of The Association of American Railroads repair procedures and complies with regulations, quality assurance standards, and company safety policies.
• Performs refurbishing and/or repairs to rail car components using welders, grinders, cutting torches, air arching equipment, and various gauges to inspect weld repairs.
• Performs Dye Penetrant Non-Destructive Testing for material and weld repairs.
• Performs tasks under the direction of Supervisor and reports materials/equipment needs to complete tasks.
• Performs special processes for repair or refurbishment based on customer work orders.
• Makes adjustments to welder and feeder settings and performs minor repairs to tools/equipment.
• Wears and maintains respirator welding hood.
• Collaborates with Supervisor and team members and assists in training new employees.
